2021 Scholarship Winners

Because of your support of our annual golf outing and the commitments by the Arnson, Pedler, Bailey families, MSU Alumni Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore Area, and Community Foundation Muskegon County, we are pleased to award these students with $33,750 in scholarships for 2021!


ARNSON FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP – $15,000
Founded in 1995

2021 RECIPIENT: EMMA WOLLER
Scholarship Amount $15,000

EMMA is receiving this award for the 2nd year in a row! As a freshman at MSU, studying Crop & Soil Science, she achieved a 3.8 GPA.

This summer, she had an internship as a ‘Crop Scout’, looking for insects & diseases in asparagus, apples, cherries & peaches, and took a class at MSU as well.

In addition, this past year she bottle-fed & raised 70 1-day-old calves…Holy Cow!!

Although she stayed home in 2020, she will return to campus in the fall, and is excited to be back in person for classes!!

 


MSU CLUB LAKESHORE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
Founded in 2017

This scholarship has been generously funded by local MSU Alumni and the proceeds from our golf outings. This is the only scholarship we award that includes students from the Grand Haven & Spring Lake area.

2021 RECIPIENT: BRYANT LATCHAW
Scholarship Amount $7,900


BRYANT
lives in Muskegon & graduated from Grand Haven High School with a 4.3+ GPA.

He earned Varsity Letters in Swimming & Water Polo and choreographed performances for the 200+ member Synchronized Swim Team all 4 years of high school.

Bryant will focus on Plant Sciences at MSU, a passion he discovered in High School when a group project lab report inspired a 2-day research binge, culminating in a 14-page essay!

 

 


MERRILL & ZONA BAILEY SCHOLARSHIP
Founded in 2004

2021 RECIPIENT: DELANEY MOBRITO
Scholarship Amount $5,900

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MUSKEGON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP

2021 RECIPIENT: DELANEY MOBRITO
Scholarship Amount $1,950

DELANEY is Ravenna High School’s 2021 Valedictorian.

Delaney’s leadership skills include conference honors in, and tutoring & coaching for,
middle school/community basketball & softball programs.

Delaney has also participated in MSU OsteoCHAMPS, as well as job shadowing at the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital NeoNatal program, the Mercy Heath Hospitalist program, & the Muskegon Surgical Associates Vascular Surgery program.

At MSU, Delaney plans to study Human Biology leading to Medical School.

 


JIM & JERI PEDLER SCHOLARSHIP
Founded in 2000

2021 RECIPIENT: JALEN HARDIMAN
Scholarship Amount $3,000

JALEN is a graduate of Muskegon High School. To strengthen his objective of achieving success at MSU, he took AP classes, Honors courses, participated in Muskegon Community College’s Trio Upward Bound Program, and was a GVSU Wade Mccrae Scholar while attending Muskegon High School.

Jalen also participated in the National Honor Society, the Muskegon Big Red Band, volunteered with special needs students, and was a Kentucky Fried Chicken Team Member.

At MSU, Jalen will study Business. He is a Direct Admit to Broad College and his career goals include Marketing or Advertising for multi-million companies!


We congratulate these students on their pursuit of excellence in education!
